Thoughts from MSU’s win over Auburn

And of course, there’s much more going on than any one game story can capture, so here are a few observations on what I liked and disliked about Monday’s huge win.

Five questions about Missouri State hoops

Finally, the night many have been waiting for — Missouri State’s basketball opener.msu.logo

The Bears will open at 7:05 p.m. tonight at home against SEC foe Auburn. Personally, I’m geeked for this game for a number of reasons. This town (and region) is fueled by MSU hoops. It is the local sports story 365 days a year, from games to recruiting and back to games.

And when MSU is good, the town is abuzz. For all of you that doubt it, think back to last season. How depressing was it when the Bears weren’t competitive? Sure, many gave first-year coach Cuonzo Martin some room to work, but an 11-20 record this season won’t cut it, despite being picked ninth in the 10-team Missouri Valley Conference this season. With the Lady Bears teetering on the brink of legitimacy, the sports scene needs the Bears more than ever.

But, as usual, my optimism is met by my analytical side. That leads me to five major questions I have coming into this season.
